Thank God the British vets came in and helped curb the population of cats who led lives of being perpetually undernourished and neglected. Cats still seem to eat anything and everything, as far as I could see. Bread and cheese were popular with one lot of seven I fed on a regular basis, on an Aegean island. They fought over crusts.

The smoking law is a classic nonsense. I'm not sure what tests were considered to go ahead with that one. It would be interesting to see the process that was undertaken to pass such an idiotic rule. It's also ironic that this takes place in a part of the world where the most healthy of recipes exist.

Very interesting article, one thing I would like to mention. You said that in Greece they have divided the restaurants in smoker and non-smoker sections... the thing is that every local in Europe has adopted that law and it's not just restaurants, there are the bars, clubs, and in general every leisure place available.
