About Rebecca
I am a woman, healer, writer, speaker, photographer, and lover of Greece.
After a twenty-year career as a Holistic Gynecologist, I took a break from patient care to devote my time to writing my first book, Creating Feminine Health, Finding Balance in a Masculine World, speaking, and creating wellness coaching services for women physicians and leaders. Although this book was never published, but has became a basis of the many presentations I have given since. Recently, I resigned from my gynecological practice to devote myself fully to my coaching clients. My passion lies in helping women create health and wellness in all aspects of their lives, not in curing disease, so I was pleased to have the opportunity to work with Women's Health expert Dr. Christiane Northrup for two years. I have also worked for many years in a conventional medical setting.
Throughout my career, I observed that imbalances in our health and in our lives appear to be linked to the imbalance between feminine and masculine qualities that exists within our culture. Masculine qualites such as independence, productivity, physical strength and linear thought are more universally valued than feminine ones of interdependence, nurturing, feeling and intuition. This realization came at the end of my grueling four-year Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program when I recognized that instead of learning how to help women create healthier lives, I had learned to devalue and detest all that is feminine in me and in others. Being a part of a medical system that was dependent on masculine qualities to safely deliver patient care had the unexpected consequence of my internalizing the devaluation of feminine qualities. This was alarming, considering that the whole purpose of my training had been to help women heal. Fortunately, my personal healing came through my frequent travel to Greece, a country that values the feminine and a land that belongs to the Goddess.
My goal has been not only to help women create more health and balance in their lives by reclaiming the feminine, but assisting them in creating more fulfilling lives. Because my wholeness includes Greece and my creativity includes photography, my presentations usually include pictures from and references to Greece.
I love assisting my clients in creating their own unique, fulfilling, life journey.
Peace and Wellness,
Rebecca
